Volunteers have the chance to support university students with disabilities through conversation classes in English, helping them improve their communication skills in this language.
These sessions take place over a period of six months over the phone or as a video conference call, making personalised follow-ups possible and building a relationship of trust. Throughout the semester, volunteers must offer at least one half-hour session every fortnight on the dates and times agreed upon between the volunteer and the student.
Volunteers must be native, bilingual, or have a C2 level in English. Every class is adapted to students' needs by helping them to improve their fluency and ability to express themselves in personal and professional settings. This encourages students to acquire a wider range of vocabulary in an array of topics, so they can pass language level certification tests.
This project is organized by Fundación Universia, and through volunteers, the goal is to promote equal opportunities thus improving the employability of university students who take part in the project.
