Volunteers have the chance to collaborate by offering academic and professional support online sessions to university students with disabilities to facilitate their entry into the workforce.
These sessions take place over a period of six months, building a relationship of trust and making personalised follow-ups possible. Throughout the semester, volunteers must offer at least a one-hour session every fortnight on the dates and times agreed upon between the volunteer and the student. During these sessions, which can take place over the phone or as a video conference call, volunteers will convey their real-life work experience to students. Support sessions for students should be aimed at:
- Enhancing their relationship and communication skills.
- Expanding their professional network.
- Improving their university projects (end-of-degree or end-of-master's-degree project) by providing support during their development.
- Improving the perspective of university students with disabilities in terms employment opportunities.
By including volunteers in this project undertaken by Fundación Universia, promoting equal opportunities is the goal.
