From its earliest days, Fundación Repsol has occasionally promoted many kinds of volunteering activities, encouraging the involvement of employees and people from the Repsol Group environment.
These volunteering activities were focused on different fields of action ranging from educational programmes, food drives for disadvantaged groups, social participation and promotion of companies, as well as help in raising funds for emergency situations.
This paved the way for the Volunteering Plan which was launched in February 2011 as part of the European Year of Volunteering. The Volunteering Plan sought to deal with the social concerns raised by the Group’s employees and its environment while at the same time helping to build a better future in society.
The activities carried out as part of the Volunteering Plan have already helped 855,000 people.
Origins of the Volunteering Plan
The Volunteering Plan brings together the experience gathered by Fundación Repsol in this sphere. It promotes new programmes and integrates those that are currently under way, in line with the values that the foundation stands for. There is also special emphasis given to the Plan's main feature: its universality.
The Fundación Repsol Volunteering Programme was created by and for the volunteers thus enabling each volunteer to find their niche where they can see how their efforts and commitment are reflected. This concept is evident in terms of the groups that are assisted as well as in the needs that are identified, looking to converge with the volunteers' own social concerns, which are considered to be the plan's driving force. Based on this, the programmes and activities included in the Plan are defined by actively listening to their needs and concerns.
The Fundación Repsol Volunteering Plan is a young, innovative, and dynamic plan that is based on communication with volunteers and society as a tool for success. That is why we have designed a portal with all the information about the Plan and its activities that have been planned as well as those already under way.
The actions are categorised into four volunteering programmes that cover a wide range of tasks such as assisting disadvantaged groups, promoting values, intergenerational collaboration, activities that promote the social integration of people with different abilities, rehabilitating spaces, and environmental activities:
- Social awareness/environment: Addressing the basic needs of our surroundings and supporting groups that are at risk of exclusion.
- Different abilities: Contributing to the social integration of people with different abilities.
- Training and development: Conveying knowledge and experience to society as a Repsol professional.
- Energy efficiency: Collaborating in projects related to energy efficiency.
Four pillars and one mission: to help build a better future for society and at the same time overcome the social concerns of our volunteers, who are the very essence of the Plan.
Because being part of Repsol Volunteering is a symbol of identity that means commitment, solidarity, and respect alongside other values that our volunteers will continue to convey as ambassadors of the Plan.
